Hi! I’m Ali, a 28 year old Ph.D. student (a.b.d.!) in rural Michigan currently dividing time between working on my dissertation and reading as many books and running as many miles as possible.
Reveries of the Solitary Jogger began as a place for me to take a break from dissertation writing and graduate school. I’ve always loved reading other personal health, fitness, and lifestyle blogs and even maintained one for two years called SocraTeas back in my undergrad days. I put the blog aside in graduate school, but the stress of the last few years took its toll (as it always does). A return to blogging seemed like the perfect outlet.
This blog is a little bit about everything, but mostly it conveys my aspiration to live the best life. I’m a political theory Ph.D. student currently working on my dissertation on Genevan thinker, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, but I’m also a runner, a fledgling crossfitter, and a wanna-be triathlete. Some days I write on the joys and struggles of dissertation writing and graduate school, other days I share thoughts on health and training, and every once in awhile I share thoughts on current events.
